Majorie Parchment has been with Brysons Insurance since 1988, taking the company from a captive business operation to being the first choice for buyers of commercial insurance. She has successfully seen the company and its clients through 5 hurricanes including the two major ones, Luis in 1995 and Georges in 1998. She started her insurance career in Jamaica directly from high school with the intention of working for “only” 1 year before pursuing a career in law that was some 25 years ago. She received her first professional qualification, Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute UK (ACII) in 1985 having fast tracked her studies at the Chartered Insurance Institute College in Kent England and the London school of Insurance. She also holds the Chartered Insurance Practitioner designation as well as the premier insurance qualification in the American insurance industry, the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) issued by the Insurance Institute of America. Committed to the development of the local insurance industry she has served in many capacities including twice as president of the Insurance Association of Antigua and Barbuda. Miss Parchment is active in training and has done training programs for her principals National General Insurance Corporation (NAGICO) and for the insurance industry in Jamaica and Antigua. She has worked tirelessly to help establish an education and training institute in Antigua. Upon formation of the Insurance Institute in March 2004 she was elected to the Board of directors and her fellow board members nominated her to serve of the first ever president of the Insurance Institute of Antigua and Barbuda. After 2 years as president she remains on the board as immediate past president.
