Casualty Loss Adjuster
Anna commenced with McLarens in 2015 following two years as a Specialist Loss Adjuster with a national adjusting firm. Anna has a Law Degree gained at the University of Canterbury. Anna currently handles Personal Injury matters, Public and Products Liability claims across a broad sector of industries. Notable claims handled: – Multiple subcontractor construction liability claims (USD 300,000) – Recovery action against suppliers of construction materials – Manufacture and supply of defective wall panels (USD 1.5M) – Product Liability claims – international electronics manufacturer – Production and supply of substandard road base material – Multiple injury liability claims – Environmental pollution claims – Property damage arising from domestic renovation and repairs (USD 200,000)
National Manager - Marine
Following University studies and a background in Systems Analysis and Computer Programming, John worked as a scientist initially in the fields of mineral and oil exploration – Geophysics, and also in Avionics and guided weapons systems, before focussing on Shipping, Transport and Insurance / Risk. John’s knowledge of transport / shipping and marine practices has lead to risk management consultancy and marine surveying / adjusting for cargoes, including loss prevention and consultancy. Following a period of time as a Marine Surveyor in Brisbane, including ship planning and cargo superintendence work (bulk, breakbulk and containerised cargoes) as well as marine claims, John established Freemans Marine, which grew into a successful National Marine Surveying and Marine Adjusting operation around Australia. Significant heavy lift survey work was completed for major projects in Australia and also in Papua New Guinea. As a result of his demonstrated experience, reputation, and knowledge in transport, insurance and risk for over 10 years, this successful operation included being appointed the Lloyds Agents for all of Australia and the Pacific Region (excluding Western Australia), CESAM Average Agents and VHT Average Agents in Australia – along with many other international and national relationships established. John has undertaken surveys througout Australia and also the Pacific / P.N.G., including Cargo and also Shipping / P&I Club matters, along with commercial hull and pleasurecraft claims. John is an active member of a number of Industry Groups and regularly undertakes training and seminar exchanges / presentations. He is a member of the Australasian Institute Of Surveyors (AIMS), a graduate member of the Australian Institute Of Physics; an associate member of the Australian Institute of Export, a member of the Chartered Institute Of Transport (CIT), and a member of the Logistics Association Australia (LAA). Martyn has been with McLarens and associated companies for over 15 years and is a Chartered Loss Adjuster. During this time, Martyn gained broad experience of the commercial and personal lines market, handling the full spectrum of claims across all classes. He has also held the position of GM Sales and Marketing for a national loss adjusting company, having overall responsibility for the company’s’ client relationships, and the sales and marketing function. As General Manager, Martyn leads the Australian Operation.
Marine Surveyor / Marine Adjuster
Michael has over 27 years experience in the Marine insurance industry. He commenced his career in the UK working as a Marine claims handler for a major insurer, dealing with all types of cargo claims, recoveries, General Average & Salvage matters. He then subsequently took the role for 11 years of a Senior Claims Adjuster for an underwriting agency with a Lloyd’s of London binder. In October 2008, Michael moved from the UK to Australia and joined MYI Freemans (later Cerno), taking on the role as a Senior Adjuster & Surveyor and gaining experience with assessing and loss adjusting in a wide spectrum of cases including cargo, supervision, freight liability and Out of Gauge surveys.
Marine Surveyor / Marine Adjuster
After leaving the Australian Army (Royal Australian Signal Corps), Neale spent most of the last 25 years in the marine industry. Specialising in marine electronics, Neale has been involved with system design, integration, installation and commissioning of electronics packages. After a period as the QLD state manager for B&G Electronics, Neale was involved in a number of boat building projects, before being offered a position with Marinassess in 2004, to establish an insurance assessing presence in QLD. Joining MYI Freemans (later Cerno) in 2009, Neale expanded his role beyond Risk and Condition surveys for vessels, as well as assessing and loss adjusting, to include marine cargo supervision and assessing, and project cargo supervision and risk mitigation including heavy lift projects. As part of Cerno’s Lloyd’s Agency requirements, Neale successfully completed all Lloyd’s Agency certificates during courses in New Zealand and Singapore, including Technical Cargo Surveying and Claims & Recoveries. Neale has undertaken vessel surveys and salvages around the country as well as in the South Pacific and Micronesia for European underwriters. Neale has been a Full member of the International Institute of Marine Surveying since 2013. Stephen commenced his adjusting career with McLarens in May 2014 as an Executive Loss Adjuster. He has a diverse pool of experience to draw from including a career with the NSW Police as Senior Detective Constable in the Arson Squad. Stephen has also worked for various adjusting firms, holding titles including Managing Partner and Operations Manager. Most recently, he has gained experience as a claims preparer with the LMI Group. Stephen has 27 years of experience in the insurance industry managing substantial claims in the mining, oil, electrical and manufacturing industries. Stuart is an Executive Adjuster with more than 20 years’ experience in loss adjusting. During this time Stuart has gained extensive experience in both Australia and London, where he worked for several years with international claims for the London market. He has also worked on secondments in Scotland and the Caribbean and has extensive experience in handling local and international catastrophe losses. Stuart specialises in the management of major and complex property losses, including Fine Art and Specie, and business interruption claims across most business and industry sectors. Drawing on this experience, Stuart has been successful in fast tracking property reinstatement, managing stakeholders and driving results. Stuart has presented on these experiences at a number of claims and industry conferences. William has 24 years’ industry experience including 22 years as a loss adjuster. As a graduate of the National University of Ireland, William gained a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. His extensive experience includes assignments in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Australia, including three years as manager of the Limerick branch of Robins Scully Tyrrell Ltd. William specialises in major property losses and business interruption in all areas of business and industry including computer/electronic, fine arts, film and television, contingency, construction, general retail & wholesale, government, religious bodies, luxury goods and hotels.
