I joined Advantage Benefit Solutions with over 36 years of employee benefits experience. My background allows me to work with employers to build benefit programs that are innovative while cost effective and will assist in attracting and retaining a high quality workforce. My work also includes creating communication strategies to improve employee benefit plan appreciation and to simplify plan administration thus reducing the overall administrative cost. I am proud to have served with the Marine Corps as Infantry Captain in Vietnam.

I’ve worked in several different levels of employee benefits for over 28 years. My background includes Human Resources, Provider, Carrier, Broker, Third Party Administration, and Compliance. Working as a benefits coordinator is a challenging job, and it’s a never-ending learning experience. What started as a hobby became one of my passions, and soon became my business, “Eva’s Decorative Glass”. Making stained glass pieces is a great way to relieve stress, and I find works of stained glass beautiful to look at. In addition to my stained glass business, we have 130 acres of farm land, which we raise cattle, chickens, and pygmy goats. We show and breed to promote the pygmy goat breed “Morgan Crossing TX”.

Employee Benefit Consultant
I entered the Employee Benefits Business right out of college in 1990 when the only choices that an employer had were a $250 or $500 deductible and the choice of offering an Rx card or not. The landscape changed over the years of PPO's, HMO's, EPO's and rising health insurance premiums year after year. The Employee Benefits Consulting industry has become very complex and now dealing with Healthcare Reform, increasing compliance laws, greater fiduciary liability to officers, Human Capital Information Systems and still rising health insurance premiums. The complexity of the industry allows me to become more creative and have a greater sense of satisfaction of solving the needs of my clients.

During the last 24 years, I have helped thousands of employees define their retirement goals and objectives. My primary focus is to help ensure trustees have managed their personal fiduciary liability and that employees are “retirement ready.” This is accomplished by assisting with the design and implementation of retirement plans whose provisions and investment alternatives are in the best interest of employees and their beneficiaries. Likewise, employees are better prepared for their future by participating in our clearly communicated educational programs. As an Accredited Investment Fiduciary designee, I have been a retirement advisor for Advantage Benefit Service, a health and welfare consulting firm, since 2004...and in a similar position with MassMutual—Houston from 1988 to 2004. Prior to entering the retirement arena, I was a Senior Vice President of commercial lending with both Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Chase Bank-Houston for the eight years ending in 1988. My group affiliations include: The American Society of Financial Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Houston Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Baylor University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Louisiana State University. In addition, I have these designations: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (CFP®); and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF). I also maintain various FINRA securities registrations with LPL Financial in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.

We challenge the status quo so that employees and their dependents can access affordable quality healthcare, protect their financial wellbeing, and retire in dignity. We challenge the status quo by thinking differently, providing transparency and making benefit plans simple to understand. Do you want to increase your employee's satisfaction? Specialties: My personal expertise is in benchmarking claim data to find medical expenses that can be lowered through member education, providing cost transparency and allowing members to choose better, lower cost options. The end result, every employee and every dependent can access appropriate care at a cost that doesn’t financially ruin them or their family, and the employer sponsor gains through lower costs and improved satisfaction.
