My early working life was as a loss adjuster and I can vouch for the fact that there is no better way to learn about human behaviour than in a stressful claims negotiation. As well as generating a deep understanding of people it was a great place to learn about what makes businesses tick. For most of my working life, my main business interest has been making businesses run more efficiently and more profitably, whether this be in terms of people, processes, systems, management information or any other internal or external factor. In many respects this is analogous to oiling the gear wheels of the business whatever they may be. This has led me in to many areas where I might not have otherwise have treaded and to become an expert in quite a few. Technology now drives most businesses in a fairly direct way and it was inevitable that technology expertise and its interplay with the rest of the business areas would become the backbone of much of what I do. I have loved creating and growing businesses and the more entrepreneurial, the better. In turn this has given me lots of years of experience of private equity and banking relationships and about half my life sitting at the board table.
My career has been spent in media pulling in from three main platforms that include, Newspaper, TV to my current position in marketing. I am now using all of the experience and skills built up from education and my roles of selling media and marketing services to help manage marketing campaigns through all types of marketing activities and methods. I have worked with 100's of business across the Midlands, offering guidance and advice on how best to market their business.
